The shelves grew out of my work on movement within metal. Straps and bars are made to be solid whilst remaining permanently free of each other.
The Grasp is a fully forged adjustable shelf system that uses plastic state deformations and gravity to create functional structure.
Each set of Grasp Shelves is Individually made to order and can be tailored to suit any space.
Punched fire basket
I was approached to design and make this fire basket in 2018. The customers had an old fire basket the critical dimensions of which they wanted me to keep the same but beyond that I was given design freedom. The basket is entirely traditional jointed in a contemporary minimalistic style.
Double arc fire basket
The Double arc fire basket is a continuation of my work with industrial section (in this case steel pipe), and simple geometric styling. The double arc fire basket can be made to any length or depth.
The arc vessels are a continuation of my work with industrial section, it is an examination of how simple lines can create a beautiful functional objects.
Tapestry display brackets
In 2017 I was asked to design and make a series of heavy mountings for a number of tapestries, there had to be an open and closed top design to make fitting easier.
The brackets were not to show any modern fixings so the design include a number of false rivet heads that could be magnetically attached to the brackets.
The Wedge Vessel started out as a study of industrial steel section and the visual themes found in contemporary Japanese ceramics.
The aim was to use heat and force to controllably bend industrial sections designed to remain straight.
Heat and Force give rude metal beautiful form.
This page contains a number of forgings that don't fit into any other category but are interesting in process or design.
